  1. Just recently I was updating an item and noticed that the Asset#, which I sometimes refer to when pulling up an item, can be different from the HomeManage ID. For most of my records, these two are the same, which is what I like. I'm not certain how the 2 items I've noticed today have mismatched Asset#--HomeManage ID combinations. So I have some observations/questions for clarification to help me manage items without creating a mess. What's the relationship between Asset# and HomeManage ID fields? I know from looking at the input form that I can change the Asset#, but I don't usually do that as there is no need to. The only exception I can recall is long ago I found that for several items the Asset# field contained a space preceding the number and that was causing problems for me--in that situation, for each asset I edited the Asset# field to remove the space before the number. The Barcode field matches the HomeManage ID field. Is this always true? I don't think the Barcode field is editable by me. Just an observation, not a request to be able to edit it. The asset picture files appear to use the HomeManage ID number in the filename. Can/should I edit the Asset# fields so that the Asset# matches the HomeManage ID number? Reason: I'd rather that they match to keep things simple for me, but I don't want to cause a problem in the app either. Three different examples from my database: Asset# HomeManage ID Barcode 125 122 122 <<< not sure how many items are mismatched like this 122 192 122 (note: there is no Asset# 192; how does this happen?) 190 190 190 <<< this is what I expect to find Thanks for any explanations! David PS: Forgot to mention that some time ago I did some experimenting in the database with duplicates, clones and copies of items to learn what the differences/advantages of each type of copy is. How do duplicates, clones and copies handle these 3 fields?
  2. Hello, I have been using Home Manage for a couple of years and really like it and find it very useful. I have recently upgraded to 2018 and thought I would make life a bit easier for myself and buy a scanner. However although the bar code scans into the barcode box the 'Lookup' button is greyed out and so I cannot search on the online barcode database for the item. The description box simply auto fills with Null. I am probably doing something silly and have missed the obvious but would very much appreciate your help. Many thanks
  3. We have installed SQL server 2016 on the same machine (Windows 2012 Server R2). are the images for the assets being stored in the database, if not how can this be done? the images are stored in a separate IMAGES folder, you could set a network shared folder as the IMAGES folder so all users would have access. We have a Dymo Printer 450 (http://www.dymo.com/en-AU/labelwriter%3Csup%3E%C2%AE%3C-sup%3E-450-labelwriter-450) for our labels that we stick to equipment. How can we export / print to that printer you would need to edit the labels template to change the output to match the label coordinates. We have a video on this at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae4qQAAclgE How can we link other users to this database. I saw a video of it being done but can not seem to find it The AssetManage Standard has a built in USERS permission permission feature. The AssetManage Enterprise would require setting permissions at the SQL administrator level. Is it possible to install the client on MacOSX / IPADS Not currently, but we will have an AssetManage for the Mac / iPad in late 2018. Is it possible to customermize the barcode. Yes, the report designer supports all major barcode formats. Is there a was using Excel that we can batch import our Assets? Yes, there is an import feature that lets you import. Is best to first save the EXCEL spreadsheet in CSV format.
  4. Hello, I am contemplating purchasing the software but had a question or two. What we are thinking of doing is taking inventory of things in our home that we own and will stay as well as things we own, but are going to sell to free up space. The things that stay will be identified as being in whatever room they reside in of course, but the items to sell will be relocated to bins and/or shelves where they will remain until sold or donated to charity. Because we have so many things we need to get rid of, I need to be able to inventory them by the bin they are in or the shelf they are on. Can I set up location that way? For example, if I have an item that I'm going to put in a bin identified as Bin A on a shelf identified as Shelf 1, can I simply do a location identification that way? What do you recommend? Thanks in advance for your consideration in this matter. Jeff
  5. === QUESTION Before I purchase, I am trying to determine from your online manual if AssetManage has the ability to assign barcodes to objects that do not possess barcodes by default, such as Artwork. I see that there is an option to scan and print barcodes but nothing about assigning barcodes. What I would like to do is create generic barcodes, print and affix to multiple artwork. Is this possible with AssetManage? If so, what section of the manual do I find these instructions? Thanks. === ANSWER You can do it 2 ways, You can print out a series of barcodes using: TOOLS > PRINT BARCODE LABELS WITH SEQUENTAL NUMBERS from the main menu. Enter the info for each barcode and then stick It on the asset. The second method is just to enter all the asset information into the software. This will assign a unique asset number to the asset. Then use the OUTPUT LABELS USING.. command to print out labels for those assets.
