  1. I have been maintaining a home inventory for over 15 years, with the last 5 years using HomeManage. There is one area that would greatly enhance the product in my mind; Replacement Cost. It is currently a data input item. The problem I have is my file contains about 1/2 thousand line items and trying to maintain Replacement Cost over time on this many line items is impossible to perform manually. My recommendation is to add a feature that would allow the Replacement Cost to be calculated periodically at the discretion of the User. The ingredients for doing so exist in the data, with the exception of an inflation factor. The Purchase Date and the Original Cost exist in the file. Providing a feature that would allow the User to input an inflation factor (e.g 3%) and a procedure to apply that inflation factor to the Original Cost from the Purchase Date to the current date, with the result being stored in Replacement Cost would eliminate the problem of being unable to maintain Replacement Cost. I have accomplished such a result by exporting to EXCEL and writing the code to apply the inflation factor in order to justify insurance coverage; but, it is a rather arduous task
  2. I have explored further on line and have found that "Windows 10 Read Only Problem" is a common problem. So... the question is: why is HomeManage the only software application that has suffered by going to Windows 10? I have tried to change the read-only setting on the "Data" folder; but, it is always re-set to read-only
  3. My Assets.mdb file is not under the PROGRAM FILES folder path. It is already under the DOCUMENTS folder path. However, I did note that all folders in the path containing the Assets.mdb fie are marked as "read only". tahoewoods
  4. I am getting a dialog box error message, "Microsoft.Jet database cannot open the file...\Data\Assets.mdb.It is already opened by another user, or you need permission to view the data". The only thing that has changed is I recently converted to Windows 10. What is causing the problem?
  5. I have recently converted to HomeManage and find it the best of all the Software packages I have used. Replacement cost for insurance purposes is an important data element.in the record keeping. If a person has hundreds of asset items, as I do, it is impossible to maintain the replacement cost data manually. I have addressed this issue in the past, by exporting to EXCEL and computing current replacement cost based on an average inflation percent applied from the purchase date to the current date (a more defensible calculation would be to us the government CPI tables). Are there any options in HomeMange, such as an exit point, that would allow a person to provide their own code to automatically compute the replacement cost?
