  1. "I have many covers in my collection with more than one stamp variety on the cover. I am interested in entering these covers into Stamp Manage that would allow me to reference the varieties. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do this?" It would be an unworkable Database, due to size. Since 1940 'Gilbert And Ellice Islands' have issued 200+ General issue stamps. Disregarding different postmarks, each of these covers could include 1p Postage Due Stamp making 400+ Total Covers Database. The Covers Database needs to include any one of the 8 different Postage Due Stamps making a 1,600+ Total Covers Database --------------------------------- So how many combinations of 10 stamps can one find from 200+ stamps issued is:- 22,451,004,309,013,280 unique covers of which your example is one of them. I accept that some examples would not exist, but which ones would you not want included? Also there are covers with duplicated pairs, etc. with other stamps. Where would you stop? ------------------------- With my current database of 800,000 Scott records and 450,000 images and previously studied Statistics, permutations and combinations, I understand the problem really well. 3. Hi mipalmers Madgascar was under British Rule 1885-1886. After 1886 it was under French Rule. Stamps from Madagascar are found under "Malagasy Republic" Hope this helps Colin Pattrick
  4. I also got frustrated with SM and went over to Access for Editing/Updating Data. if you wish to make contact. colinATcolinpattrickDOTcom
  5. India - Feudatory States - Jasdan appears on page 1156 of the 2017 catalouge. They only issued one stamp Scott 1 the image for it appears below
  6. Nancy. If you want to send a 'representative sample from your excel spreadsheet/s', say 100 records, I'll have a go of Uploading them to SM. If a few can be done, then all can be done. From Colin Pattrick email :- colin@colinpattrick.com
  7. NO. You are trying to sort on a 'Text' field (Scott#). SM stores the Scott Number in two formats within the Access Database. The first format it stores the Full Scott Number as a 'Text' field (this is the field you are trying to Sort on). The second format within the Access Database it stores the Full Scott Number as 3 fields (Prefix, Number & Suffix). It is Number that is a Numeric Field and will sort the way you want. I am uncertain whether the 2nd format can be viewed within the Report you are generating. Hope this helps. Regards colin@colinpattrick.com

In Scott World Catalouges 1-6 the Scott design number represents the Images appearing. Each image is a representative sample of a group of stamps. So for Jersey image "A109 Europa 1990" it represents a group of stamps Scott532 to Scott535 e.g. Europa Issues. The image displayed is for the third image in this set of four, namely the 24p stamp. Hope that explains it. Happy New Year and wishing you Hope. Colin
  9. No, you cannot simultaneously and always update your copy of SM. The SM Programming and the database are combined in Access.mdb.
  10. Its not impossible, but difficult to do, to import a Excel/CSV into Excel Format that Stamp Manage Database understands. If you email me a selection of your Excel file I can offer you some help. Regards Colin Pattrick colinATcolinpattrickDOTcom
  11. This is because when you have a Country it can contain different Types of Stamps, (such as General Issue, Airmail, Postage due etc ). These categories or Types (as SM calls them), of stamps have different TypeID numbers tied to the CountryID. It is possible to set up "General Issues" and "general issues" for the same Country and these would have different TypeID's and be in different categories/types, like airmail and postage due. Q. What Country are you referring to? as I am unaware of any single Country with this situation. Agree there should be conformity with names of different categories/types. With regards to merging. This is is not a simple copy and paste exercise. If you contact me direct i can try to help. colinATcolinpattrickSOTcom
  12. a)The Scott number for the Machin stamp has to be in the database. b)The Scott numbered stamp image for your Machin stamp has to be in the image file under folder '545' i have a database of 627 Machin Images. These can be downloaded by clicking on the links below. They will download into four files 1048,1049,1050 and 1051. The contents can be copied and pasted to folder 545 https://ln2.sync.com/dl/bcacad4c0/ftsxfrz9-q22gp6mb-fdg5ps8w-huk5p3r3 https://ln2.sync.com/dl/bb0fa5160/qadmrkyy-azcvpv7z-wuridn9p-7d6t8gie https://ln2.sync.com/dl/1171fe080/myy752vu-3sasdyr8-2dqjrprg-gizva7f7 https://ln2.sync.com/dl/715d9f180/dvfqwz5b-6f5vhngx-sbtiq98d-g7pre4a7 Hope it helps
  13. As a generalization Within SM image file CountryID 765, then inages from 3,900 to 4,900 need change the 4 to a 3 as you say, but many images thereafter need to delete 1 from the Scott number. I have covered Poland to Scott 4000 images:- https://ln2.sync.com/dl/22f4d3e40/mxugf933-unsyu8dg-7x64rmg8-ng5ft2aa However the file 765 is incomplete for images over Scott 5000 regards Colin
  14. To Dave You are correct in that Stamp Manage has two listings for Isle of Man, namely Id900 and id620. You should use one, or the other code. Images that you add to one file do NOT automatically appear in the other listing. I just suggest that id900 is the id of choice.
