Hi Stamp Manage does not store the Country Name for each database entry but uses a CountryID number. Each country issues different types of stamps e.g. General Issue, Air Postage, Postage Due, etc. So there is a Stamp Manage TypeID for this. This TypeID for Air Postage is a different ID for every country, likewise General Issue, Postage Due etc. The Stamp Manage database uses CountryID and TypeID to help sort the database, before the correct allocation of the Scott number. Sorry a batch import into Stamp Manage is not possible as each image in your database would need the Scott Number added. To complicate your problem still further, the Scott Number has to be imported as a Text style Number and it also needs importing as Suffix+number+prefix (Suffix and prefix as Text, and Number as numeric) Email me if you want colinATcolinpattrickDOTcom I can give you guidance on making your image Files into a Database.

Jeff. I was referring to Year Issued, as appertaining to when the Set was issued. Some Sets (definatives) are issued over a number of years e.g 1920-1923. Whereas Date issued shows exact date of issue. To keep sets together within the database, it is not correct to just use the year field extracted from DATE Issued. A year purchased field is only applicable to an individual purchaser, and not of any use to the SM world. I do agree that YEAR is not clearly defined, within SM.

Yes I agree. Date & Year should be seperate. Date seems okay but Year is a mess within the database. Agree Year should be a 'short text' field as one needs to enter year spans (1860-1862). But this has not stopped the Misuse of this field. Year field should be Year only The rejection of entries NOT 'numeric' or '-' should be built into the database.

Hi You have to have the Scott Number (plus a,b,c below) for each stamp before you can import ( or copy and Paste to Stamp Manage). From the print out shown you have Stanley Gibbons numbers only. To enable an import (or copy and paste) into the database one needs a)the CountryID for New Caladonia to be set to 684 b)the TypeID of stamp e.g General Issue = 20812 to be entered (Postage Due, Airmail etc have different TypeID numbers) c) the Unique Scott Number needs to be included in the data base. ab&c have to be UNIQUE for each stamp, prior to a copy and paste into the database. c) Your list suggests that the Scott Number has NO Prefix or suffix, (e.g Both Blank Fields) which makes it slightly easier to import (or copy & Paste). However c) the UNIQUE Scott Number needs to appear firstly as combined TEXT (Prefix+Number+Suffix) Format. Secondly the Scott Number then needs to appear as Three seperate fields(Prefix+Number+Suffix) with Prefix & Suffix as Text Fields and the Number as a NUMBER field within the SM Database. This is minimum requirement to import (or copy and Paste to Stamp Manage) If you wish to Email me a Excel copy of the 246 records, I'll have a crack at conversion to Stamp Manage. Hi. Surely a Stampless cover is Unique. It has diffent dates, markings, addressees, sent from fields, etc. But its Unique. One could have all the joy of looking up the database, knowing that their unique cover would not be there (Unless one had added their own limited covers, to the database) Stamp Manage is not suited to a Stampless Collection of Unique Covers, in my opinion.
