Customizing the toolbar

Since I use the backup feature often I wanted to put the backup button icon on the toolbar. I right-clicked on the toolbar and selected 'customize'. When I found the backup button icon I tried to drag it up to the toolbar but it wouldn't allow me to put it there (a small 'x' was visible by the cursor arrow). I did discover, however, that I could drag it one level up to the pull-down menu area and it would place it there. The only problem was that the icon was not visible. A space was created for the button but it showed nothing. When I did a mouse-over a button would appear but there was no icon present. It was like an invisible button that you had to remember you put there. Am I overlooking something?? I really enjoy this program and have been using it for a few years. I'm just trying to tweak it a little more to my preferences.

Thanks
