DrGaryG
Can someone walk me through the steps to add a new category to my US collection - First Day Covers. Thanks Gary
Al G.
It looks like StampManage wants you to add to General, Air Mail, etc section and then use "Format" field to select First Day Cover so the FDC is associated with a catalog number. This may not be a 100% solution since covers may have multiple catalog number stamps. admin

DrGaryG
Where do I find the Format selection?
DrGaryG
Oh...I see. So I add C20 ands click on Format FDC. Then I have 2 entries for this stamp in Air Mail. Not a separate FDC category in my collection. Thanks
SteveH
You can get a report of all First Day Covers or All Stamps Owned by Format. admin
admin
Hi, yes the program mainly uses the FORMAT field to specify whether the item is a first day cover. We are going to find a way to specify multiple stamps on a FDC using some sort of new grouping feature. MissionaryMan64
Guest hoddy
Good to hear the intention to cater for first day covers but it doesn't just need the stamps catered for, but also the values. I don't know what it's like in the States but this side of the pond the postmark makes a huge difference in a FDC value - eg 831-834 Historic Buildings 1 Mar 1978 values between £3 to £100 depending on the postmark.
