  1. My workaround is to just increase the scaling in Windows. It works best if you start SramoManage the go to Display Settings,.select Display,  (if more than one), then change the setting "Change the size of text,. apps, and other items":.  You can change the scaling on just one display or all but it is done individually.

  2. I have not seen the large quantity number issue in the Add screen in the 2022 version,

As for adding large quantities,  I assume you know if you are adding a lot of stamps with similar characteristics (condition, etc), you can select multiple items by highlighting them (hold control or shift key depending on contiguous or not) to add all at once.  It may be easier to add a range then delete what you do not have.

  3. To use anything but the application defaults is asking for trouble if you do not understand that decisions are being made that you may not always noticed if one does not understand how the installation is structured. When upgrading, StampManage will note file locations but then you have to then remember and not skip over.

Given that,  StampManage documents file locations under Tools / Preferences.   The file path is in the Collection Stamp Images Directory setting. You can change location by selecting the down symbol and then navigating to the correct directory. Of course, Windows has gotten "better" so locations follow MS file structure (\Users\<name>\Documents\StampManage\Images).

If you want file locations for your images on your desktop, it is best to install with defaults then create shortcuts on your desktop for the locations.  This eliminates the risk of missing some upgrade where SM cannot locate something.

  4. I am on Windows 10. My workaround for this to increase the default screen scaling size using the "Display Settings  Scale and layout  setting for the specific display.  My default mode is 125% already and use 150% for the screen with StampManage (I have a 3 display set up).  It scaling works best when StampManage is already open when you make the display change.

  5. It has crashed a few times for me when in the Stamp Database Manager section to add new catalog numbers and details but I have never seen it lose data (what you was entering except maybe the last entry when adding new entries.

After I restart, I go back into the Stamp Database Manager and then select "Close" and they get added then.  You should see them in this view but they will not appear in the database or collections outside the database manager until this is done.

The program has to properly close out the database tool to do housekeeping  to properly add to database.  It takes about 5 minutes or so (may vary on computers).

  6. 1.  Have the ability to save column order in database manager since SM prefers the "variety" field to be used for Scott design number (ex.  A3) then so I could have "Variety notes" field easier to use. This field is at far right.  I have noticed that if you are adding text in column view and in lower section you need to be careful since I have seen changes made in lower view erase changes in upper  There is some sequence on using both simultaneously.

    2. In Stamp Manage Catalog view. add a new grouping called "Database by catalog number" so this can be used just like a catalog.

    3.  For needed to complete feature, allow options to select range of catalog numbers and whether minor numbers would be included.  It would be good to be able to add this list to the "Want List" entries and have a report with a similar name.

  7. The most important aspect is always knowing where StampManage stores your data.  You can find it on in the Preferences menu.  You should have a copy of everything in the

data folder.  The filename is stampdata.mdb.   Keep a spare copy of this file.

When you upgrade it can upgrade information in this file.  I think the best option is to install and upgrade using SM defaults so SM knows where everything is supposed to be..

data folder contents. There may be other files i the directory (folder).

  8.

    My advice

All your inventory data is in one file located in the folder for database directory in image below,.  The file is named stampdata.mdb,   This is what you should always keep a backup copy,.  It you have multiple versions of stampmanage they should all be pointing to same location.

If you do delete versions it should not delete data as far as I know (deleted before reinstalling myself) and as long as file is in folder Stampmanage prefers it you should be ok.  If something happens copy the backup copy to the folder where Stamp Manage wants to find it. If you have to keep the installation in a location not the default then just realize that StampManage may not find it automatically.
