  1. === Recent email from a customer

    I wrote a note to you yesterday describing the "circle" I'm now caught in when trying to open the stamp manage file. The circle continues with no success in finding a way out.

    Assuming the worse case, i.e., uninstall all of the current stamp manage files, download a newly purchased "Stampmanage 2013" file, and begin re-loading my stamp information -- I need first to be able to reclaim and then view and print my "backup database file" that I created on 6/3/13. When I click of this file a "pop-up" indicates that I can open this file if I download "OFFICE 2010". When I go online to purchase and download Office 2010, the store indicates that "OFFICE 365 Office Home & Student 2013" is now the comparable software.

    If I purchase & download Office 365, will I be able to open, view, & print my backup database for use in re-loading a new 2013 stamp database? If not, what software can I use?

    For the longer term, again, assuming the worse case - 1)can Liberty Street Stampmanage databases be loaded and used on an Apple Mac Book Pro? 2)if not, could the database be utilized on an Apple Mac Book Pro loaded with "Windows for Mac" software?

    I'll appreciate your review of these questions and your feedback, especially input on how to reclaim my backup data.

    === Answer

    All text data in StampManage is stored in a Microsoft Access format data file called STAMPDATA.MDB. You DO NOT need to have Microsoft Access installed on your computer to run our program.

    However, if you wish to open the data file, you will need Microsoft Access. Office 365 has replaced Office 2010, it is sold on a yearly subscription basis and we are upgrading to it in our offices as well. I have read some good reviews on Office 365.

    When you purchase Office 365 you will be able to open and view your StampManage text data. The information related to stamps entered into your collections is stored in the MyCollection table. The pre-defined database of stamp varieties is stored in the Varieties table.

    I'm pretty sure you will be able to open the stamanage data file on your Apple computer using the Mac version of Microsoft Access.

    to run StampManage on a Macintosh, you will need to purchase the PC Emulator software called Parallels.

  2. I can't say we have any similar reports of this problem. Is this still happening with the latest 2013 version? If so, I would like to remote to your machine to see it happen and try to figure out why.

    This is not really related, but Please note that any sub-varieties of a stamp will show the image for the main variety if there is not a separate image for the sub-variety. You should see text in the image saying "showing image for ...."

  3. When I attemp to update my 2013 software, I get this error:

    "Unable to determine the installed version. Could not get the size of the version information"

    I tried redownloading and reloading the software, but get the same error.

    Any ideas?

    Did you get this error when choosing HELP > CHECK FOR UPDATES ? If so, can you tell me which product you have and I can provide a direct link to the update file.

  4. == Question

    I currently have PARSONS TECHNOLOGY HOME INVENTORY and am running it on a Windows XP. Since XP will not be supported much longer and my computer is getting too old to upgrade, am thinking of replacing it with a new computer and the only thing available is WINDOWS 8.

    Will your system convert my Parson's to your inventory? Does your system run on Windows 8? What procedure do you recommend for me to follow to convert?

    == Answer

    If you can somehow export your data from this program to CSV, Access or Excel format , you can then import it into HomeManage using FILE > IMPORT.

    HomeManage should work fine on Windows 8, you can verify by downloading the 30 day trial version from:

    https://s3.amazonaws.com/LSSDownloads/AssetMngH.exe

  5. I think it would be extremely beneficial if you could at some point add the following to the app:

    - add coin diameter

    - add a field for references to Krause KM# and / or other catalogs

    - add a search link to free NGC world coin price guide (similar to ebay search)

    http://www.ngccoin.c...rice-Guide.aspx

    You can specify up to 3 catalog numbers for coins you enter into a collection (see screenshot). I suppose you want the catalog number as part of the coin variety information stored in the CoinManage database?

    I did'nt know that world coins guide you linked is free now.

    Actually there is a diameter field in the program, but it looks like it is'nt shown on the type info window. We will fix this for the upcoming free update.CMCatalogNumber.jpg

  6. Sometimes, you may want to run a report that only includes a certain type. For example, a report that shows only the Buffalo Nickels in your collection. To do this, first right mouse click on the type and then select RUN REPORT USING.. from the popup menu. Select the type of report to run from the submenu as show below:

    CMRunReport1.jpg

    Next, choose whether you want to print, preview or export the report to a certain format. In this case we choose to output the report to PDF format, where it will be saved in a PDF file.

    CMRunReport2.jpg

    Choose a name for the output file, Click the Open the file... checkbox to have the PDF file open after the report is produced.

  7. We get alot of customers asking if HomeManage will import from other home inventory applications such as Quicken Home Inventory.

    Quicken Home Inventory was discontinued a couple years back from what I understand.

    The answer is basically, if you can export data from the application into Excel or .CSV format, you can usually import it into HomeManage.

    Here is an article we found on one way to do this

    ===================================================================================================================

    Unfortunately, Quicken Home Inventory does not work on Windows 7, and you might have a hard time switching to another program because QHI does not have an option to export the data.

    However, there’s a way to work around this. A program called Attic Manager, can import the data directly from Quicken database, even if you don’t have Quicken installed. It even works on 64bit Windows. You just need to have your QHI.MDF database backup file.

    Once data is in Attic Manager you can export it to CSV format which can be imported into Excel, OpenOffice and almost all the other Home Inventory software.

  8. == Question

    Getting pretty familiar with the program nw and I really like it and appreciate your tutoring.

    I have all of my coin purchase and sales receipts in pdf format. How do I attach them to my records in rtf format?

    == Answer

    To attach receipts to coins you have added

    1/ Edit the coin by double clicking on the coin record, or select and choose PROPERTIES

    2/ Click on the ATTACHMENTS tab.

    3/ Click on the ADD button.

    4/ Add the path to the attached PDF receipt, then enter a description. Click OK.

    Regarding RTF format, I think it would be better to just attach the receipt as a PDF file, RTF is an old format that is not used much these days.

  9. CoinManage will calculate bullion values for any coin which has a value in the Silver, Gold or Platinum content value set to non zero. Please note you would need to download the latest spot prices from the internet before the program can calculate bullion values. Until you do this at least once, the spot prices will be 0.0. To download spot prices, select from the main menu:

    TOOLS > BULLION VALUES > then click the "Get Latest Spot Prices" button.

    To change the metal content for coin varieties, you would select TOOLS > COINMANAGE DATABASE EDITOR from the main menu.

    Then click on the coins tab, scroll to the right and you will see fields for silver, platinum or gold content in ounces.

  10. I'm posting to the forum because after three attempts to get a response at techsupport@libertystreet.com without an answer I'm trying this approach. I'm a long time StampManage user.

    Last month while I was running StampManage 2012, it died. My database was reduced to one entry. After much effort I found a copy of my database and stamp images. I also found out that many of the DVDs that contained older versions of StampManage were not readable. One of my spindles of DVD somehow lost data after a few years. I forget the exact sequence I used to try a recovery of StampManage but it went something like this:

    1. Tried reinstalling SM2012. I was asked to enter a registration code which I did. I was not asked for my name. I was told my code was invalid.

    2. This is when I discovered some of my older DVDs were bad.

    3. I uninstalled SM2012 and installed SM2009, the next most recent version I had on hand. SM2009 asked for my name and registration code. I entered my 2009 info and all was well.

    4. I then attempted an upgrade to SM2012 and the same thing happened. Was only asked for a registration code and the program said it was not valid. My 2012 registration info is straight from an email from LibertyStreet received on Oct 23, 2011.

    So as of now I have 2012 installed but it is not registered and the 30 day trial period is almost up.

    Any help would sure be appreciated.

    I believe you recently upgraded to version 2013 and are good to go now. There is an update to the 2013 Deluxe as mentioned in another post. For Deluxe 2013 users, you can select HELP. > CHECK FOR UPDATES or download the update direct from:

    https://s3.amazonaws.com/LSSDownloads/StampMngUp2013.exe

  11. We have updated StampManage Deluxe 2013 and StampManage USA 2013.

    To update, you can select HELP > CHECK FOR UPDATES from the main menu.

    If you have problems with the update feature. Download the updated direct:

    For StampManage USA 2013

    https://s3.amazonaws.com/LSSDownloads/StampMngUSAUp2013.exe

    For StampManage Deluxe 2013

    https://s3.amazonaws...mpMngUp2013.exe

    StampManage Canada update will be ready in a day or 2.

    The update contains:

    1/ Fix for problems sorting reports, usually by Scott number

    2/ You can now select multiple varieties and make changes to some fields for all of them at once. Such as the Variety topic, perforation etc.. There is a small new section in the manual on this.

    3/ Few updates to the manual

    4/ Depending on what build you have, at least 20,000 more stamp listings for the Deluxe version. The USA only version should be complete up until April 2013 now. Several thousand new images for the Deluxe version

  12. Q: Will AssetManage install on the Symbol MC55 barcode scanner?

    A: We are finishing up a Windows Mobile version of AssetManage that will allow the user to collect / edit data directly on the barcode scanner.. then later synchronize with the master database on the PC. It will be ready January 2013. Any barcode scanner that uses the Windows Mobile operating system should work with the new software.

  13. Hi Liberty

    We have purchased asset manage software. We used to use MYOB asset software. Can you support importing assets from MYOB into your software?

    ANSWER: If you can export your MYOB data to an Excel or CSV file, you can then import it into AssetManage using FILE > IMPORT from the main menu.

  14. Good morning

    The question I have this morning is that as I am going thru entering my stamps into the database I find a lot of stamps missing for a variety of countries.

    The stamps are in the Scott Catalogs but not on your database. Is there a reason why?

    ==============================================================================

    The Deluxe version contains up to date listings for countries such as USA, Canada, UK, Russia, Australia.. there are also listings for many other countries or stamp issuing entities that are not complete. We are adding stamp varieties at a pretty fast rate. The last update a couplet weeks back brought the number of listings to over 172,000. As of today we are at 178,000
