  1. At 96 dpi I realize that I am reaching the minimum setting that I wish to scan at.

For smallish stamps I find 96dpi seem to be an ideal setting

For Souvenir Sheets and envelopes, etc I find 192dpi seems to be an ideal setting

I accept that one can scan at higher settings but this has an adverse affect on the SM Database Size.

With downloads now being measured in hours and minutes, increasing dpi doesn't seem ideal.

Does any one have any suggestions for dpi?

    Regards Colin

P.S.Also thank you for your reply

I played around with the settings up to 4800 for my New Hebrides issue, Churchill Issue, Scott 62 to 65. All with the wavy line results. Strange it only affects this issue (I hope)

  2. I have scanned lots of stamps into my database.

However yesterday I uncounted a problem with New Hebrides issue, Churchill Issue, Scott 62 to 65.

I used the same 96dpi settings and get an irregular wavy line.

I've a)increased the dpi setting as high as 4800

    B) placed the stamps in a different position on the scanner

and get the same wavy line each time.

Today the scanner works perfectly for other stamps, being scanned in.

However the problem is still there for Scott 62 to 65.

Any SM viewer got any suggestions?

The last image is borrowed from the internet, this is how I want my scan to look.

  3. When one inputs the denomination could you please put the denomination first.

    e.g. 4 x 2c should read 2c x 2 etc

    25 x 5c should read 25c x 5 etc

One could then end up with a denominations field which is more searchable.

    Another irritation is showing quarter,half and three-quarters as 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4

By Holding Down the ALT key and typing 0188 you get ¼

Holding down the ALT Key and typing 0189 you get ½

and Holding down the ALT Key and typing 0190 you get ¾

One and a half pence looks so much neater from '11/2p' as '1½p'

Lastly 'Forever', '1st', etc. stamps where the value is assumed.

If these are entered as 'Forever', or '1st' etc. and any denomination value, at issue, and not shown on the stamp, is enclosed in brackets.

    'Forever(5c)' or '1st (37p)'

    would be helpful

    Thankyou for reading
