QUESTION: I Purchased a laser bar code reader for approximately $25.00 from Taotronics model number RS 422 and it works great. One question I have is when you read the code is it supposed to bring up any coin info and if so where can I find it. Of course being a complete amateur I don't know where to look. I guess my main question is am I supposed to get any other info than the scan code number placed in the bar code section of the coin info? ANSWER: Yes, you can lookup by the barcode, select CTRL+B or TOOLS > BARCODE LOOKUP... from the main menu.

As we are not using it === ANSWER You can turn off the display of thumbnails in the asset list by selecting VIEW > SHOW THUMBNAILS from the main menu. The image window at the lower left cannot currently be removed, but you can "slide' the window separator over to the far left and have the details view occupy all the space at the bottom.

Check out this stamp identification program called LignUp at: http://lignup.com/stamp-search.html Demo versions of the Windows and Mac versions can be found at: http://lignup.com/ssdownload.html I believe the demos only work with USA stamps. To check out the accuracy, select: FILE > GOTO STAMPMANAGE IMAGES FOLDER... from the StampManage main menu. Then in the lignup program choose any image from the 347 folder which is the USA. The accuracy seems pretty good. It even works with a webcam..It is a good way to find the SCOTT number of stamps you are having trouble identifying as it returns results from eBay, BidStart, Delcampe and more, the return listings usually specify the SCOTT number of the stamp found. Only $1 a month to sign up for the 440,000 stamp world search.

ANSWER: Can you tell me what the error message says? You have to select a country / category. StampManage will then show the varieties you DO NOT own in the stamp list. The attached screenshot shows CUBA - GENERAL ISSUES

Hi, I wish that was true, but I don't think the Apple Mac comes with any form of Windows.

I have purchased my first stamp manage in 2011 and upgraded in 2012. I want to upgrade again but I only need United States and the United Nations stamps. I don't mind paying the regular price but would rather not deluge my computer with stuff I don't need. Is there a way to filter the down load or deleting the other countries once it has downloaded? === ANSWER The Deluxe version includes stamps from many different countries / stamp issuing entities. To restrict what countries show in the user interface you can use the "Countries to Show" feature. To use: 1/ Select TOOLS > PREFERENCES from the main menu. 2/ Select the Countries tab. 3/ Unselect the countries you do not want to see. (See Screenshot) To permanently delete stamps from a certain country, you can use the Stamp Data Manager (TOOLS > STAMP DATA MANAGER...) Click on the country you wish to delete and then the REMOVE button (see second screenshot)

For the Truck report, you would probably define each truck as a "location" and enter the tools it contains into it. It does not require the use of scanners. You can print out barcodes directly from the software if you need to. If you just need a simple barcode scanner that scans barcodes one by one they would cost about $125 each. For a "PDA" type scanner that could use our Windows Mobile app, that would cost around $900 for a Motorola MC 55 or similar scanner

I contacted you all yesterday about your AssetManage Enterprise edition. The questions you answered were enlightening and I just had a few more. 1. Can your software run on a Unix operating system? Or would I need an emulator? 2. Is there anyway to integrate it with a SMS (Microsoft System Management Database) system that tracks assets on the network? 3. Will it integrate with existing US barcodes? Or is this more the function of the actual scanner? === ANSWER 1/ The AssetManage Client is a Microsoft Windows program. It will work on Windows XP and later. It is possible it could work on top of a PC Emulator for Unix, but I can't say we have verified this. 2/ We don't have a feature that interacts directly with SMS, however it would be possible to import data collected by SMS in CSV or Excel format. 3/ This is a function of the scanner. Note that the program lets you print out barcodes and will print out barcodes in virtually any common barcode format.

I have one question before I begin downloading the full version. I have entered about 1000 stamps in the trial version. Will this automatically transfer to the full version, or do I need to do something else after the download is done? === ANSWER If you have downloaded the large demo (4gb) for StampManage Deluxe or the demo for the USA or Canada version...you simply need to enter the activation code. The program will not change or delete any data you have entered. Even if you have to install again from a DVD/CD or download, just install to the same folders, nothing will happen to your data. Even if your demo has expired aftet the 30 days, the data will still be there and you will see it if you decide to purchase.

Trying to install StampManage 2013 on a new laptop, says my activation code has already been used. === ANSWER Looks like you reached the limit of activation on 2 computers. If possible, can you run the program on the older machine and deactivate StampManage there using TOOLS > LICENSING > DEACTIVATE LICENSE.. Doing this will free up the activation code for use on your new computer. If you have problems we can deactivate the code here. In situations where your hard drive crashes, or you had to reformat your hard drive due to virus... there seems to be situations where the activation code will not work when you install StampManage again on that computer. We can deactivate the license and in most cases that appears to fix the problem.

Using the Stamp Data Manage feature you could create a new category under the OTHER PHILATELIC ITEMS called Event Day Covers. Then click on the Stamps tab, and add individual entries for each category of Event Day Cover, you would need to place a unique value in the Scott Number field as that is a mandatory field. I'm using your AssetManage product. I have problem with report sorting. How can I sort with multi level such as: Location -> Category -> Manufacture -> Brand -> Model Now I can only sort with 2 level such as: Location -> Category And addition, I don't know how to sort with Brand, Model === ANSWER The newest versions of the AssetManage report designer make it possible to sort on unlimited levels. When you edit a report, click on the "TABLE" object and then click the button shown in screenshot1. You will see the dialog shown in screenshot2 which will let you specify which columns to sort on and in what order.

We are interested in Asset Manager but need to know if it can operate in a Terminal Services Environment. Is it possible for multiple Users to remote into an individual TS server which is running asset manager. === ANSWER Yes, we have several customers using the software with Terminal Services. Make sure when installing on the Terminal Services machine that you specify the ALL USERS option you will see on one of the install screens.

Can I run the 'Standard' version of Stamp Manage from my computer, and my wife run the 'Full' version from her computer on the same database, since the database will be on a shared drive? === ANSWER StampManage is multi-user capable. This means multiple people could be working from the same data file at the same time....You would need to have all users set their data folder and images folder to a directory on the network. Each user must have read/write permission to this folder. Each user would need to purchase a license for the software and you would both need to be using the exact same version of the program.

My husband and I were interested in you HomeManage Inventory software for our homes and boats and wondered if the software can be used on two networked computers? I have tried the demo and it looks like you can map where you want the data to be stored. Is there such a thing as two license deals on this software and can two people use the program at the same time (of course on different computers). === ANSWER Yes, you just need to store the data file on a shared folder on your network. Both users would point to this data folder. Specify the network folder during installation, you can also change it later in the program PREFERENCES. You would need to purchase 2 licenses of HomeManage.

So there is no difference between the Canada and Deluxe versions in regards to Canadian data. This applies to CoinManage and StampManage. CurrencyManage has only 1 version which includes USA and Canadian Paper Money listings. Is the manual available for electronic download when I purchase the electronic downloads or is the manual only available when you purchase the CD versions? === ANSWER The manual for any downloaded product can be found in the folder where you installed. In the case of StampManage this is usually something similar to: \\Program Files\StampManage You will find 2 manuals in PDF format, one for the program itself, the other for the report designer.

I recently purchased a copy of StampManage .... The program works great. I am not a stamp collector and the collect that I am cataloguing belongs to my father. Due to the fact that I am not a collector I have a few questions that I hope that you can either answer or direct me to another source. The questions are: I have been entering block of four stamps as “Blocks of Four” under “stamp type”. The question I have is, I am only able to value the stamps as singles. Is a block of four the same value as four singles? If they are more valuable how would I find the value of the block of fours? === ANSWER For most modern and low value stamps multiplying the value by 4 is usually correct. But older and more rare stamps the value of a block of 4 could be much higher. It is usually best to consult the SCOTT catalog in such cases. I am unsure how to enter quantity when it comes to “se-tenant pairs” with either 2 or 4 separate types of stamps. Should they be entered as 2 pair (in the case of 2 stamp pairs) or 4 individual stamps? === ANSWER You will notice that SCOTT has separate sub varieties for some se-tenant pairs. I would probably specify quantity 2 in the case of 2 se-tenant stamp pairs. 4 individual stamps sounds like quantity 1 and format would be a "strip of 4" You can enter your own formats in the stamp format dropdown if the one you want is not there. How do I enter 4 stamp first day of issue stamps? Are they entered as ‘1’ FDC or ‘4’ for each individual stamp with the price and type being FDCs? === ANSWER 4 different stamps on the same FDC? I would probably just enter the SCOTT numbers in the Scott number field and specify the format as FDC.
