admin reacted to kirkdebs in Condition of Stamp: Format - pull down list control
As I have used Stamp Manager, I have sometimes chosen to enter a non-standard description for Condition of Stamp: Format input box. For example, before there was a plate number field, I would put the plate number after Plate Block (e.g., Plate Block 111111). For sheets, I have added the number of stamps on the sheet (e.g., Sheet (50) 121111). When I did this, the new entry became part of the drop down list such that it is too long now to use efficiently. While entering new items on the list was easy, the removal of them has been harder to determine. How do I remove these add-on entries?

admin reacted to erthur in Belgium - missing stamps
Jan, I checked and just as you mentioned Scott #345 as well as #344 are missing from the stamp Manage Catalog. This is what I did and it worked in populating the Stamp Manage Catalog with these two stamps.
Go to Tools > Stamp Data Manager > Open Belgium > Semi Postal > Stamps -Text
If you scroll down you will notice that #344 and #345 are in fact in the database, just click and highlight 344 and then 345 and then close the window using "Close" at the bottom left. When the window is finished updating choose another country and then go back to Belgium. You should find that the 2 items now appear in the catalog.
Let me know if this works for you.

admin reacted in Searching by current location or set info
I didn't type the above today, but rather months ago, not sure why it posted it again today?
Anyway, that issue is resolved. My new question is that when I was first learning to use the program I assigned some coins to sets, now I want to see which coins are in those sets so I can remove them from the sets then delete the sets that were created. The search function allows me to search on text in certain fields but does not seem to allow me to search where the field "set info" = "whatever". Is there a way to do this?
I also want to be able to search on "Current Location" to make sure I moved all the coins from one location to another and didn't miss any. Then I want to delete the old location name. I'm assuming once I learn how to do the "set info" procedure then the instructions would be the same for the "current location", right?
Thanks!

admin reacted to patillserv in Go from SM Deluxe to USA only?
Back in 2013 when I first bought your Stamp Manage Deluxe software, I was intending to collect US, Canada, UN, and maybe more. I started with the US, I'm still only collecting US. Is there any way to "downgrade" from Deluxe to USA only?
I won't do this until next year of course.

admin reacted to Carl Brockman in Report showing "face value" total of coins
What you can do while waiting for a change to the "reporting segment" of CoinManage
The following example should work for any Country
Start a new Collection and name it: Face Value
In the upper left-hand corner of the program right-click on File or the Icon below to Add a New Coin to your Collection
Select a Country : United States
Select a Denomination : 1 Cent
Select a Type : Lincoln (any Type will work under Denomination)
Select any year : 1940
Select a Condition : Use the grade Poor (no automatic value will be entered by the program)
Enter a Quantity : Example (1565)
Enter a Cost : Example ( .01) Face value of the individual Coin
Close the Dialog Box by right-clicking on OK. At the bottom right-hand area of the program you should find the total number of Items, 1565 with a Total Cost (face Value) of $15.65 and a Total Value of $15.65. Continue this process with your other denominations. When Collection is highlighted all of your coins are accounted for and the Total Cost is shown. When you open your Collection and highlight an individual Denomination, the information in the bottom right-hand corner will reflect only quantity and cost for that entry.
To produce a report, highlight your Collection" Face Value" and right-click on it. Next right-click on Output Report Using....... In the dialog box that appears, go to the bottom of the listing and select (right-click) Coins - SummaryBy Type .lst, and then right-click on Open. When the next dialog box opens right-click on the "upside down pyramid"(left of the Options Button) and then right-click on Preview and then Start. If you are satisfied with the report repeat the process and print it this time.
I hope this was helpful and my apologies if the level of detail offended you.

admin reacted in Import Images with new set up
Is there a way to include photos when setting up a new database in Home Manage? We are currently using Collectify and looking to transition to Home Manage and are testing the Trial Version to see if this will be a good fit. We would love to change but really need the pictures to follow over along with the data.

admin reacted to patillserv in Stamp Manage Discs arrived
Ok, I'm installing on a laptop and the computer was completely locked up, so I removed the battery after unplugging the computer. That shut it down completely and the reboot seemed normal. Stamp Manage 2017 asked for the activation code and all seems to be ok! I still have not seen the video, but it seems I did everything right.
Thanks for your help
David Theobald
For those of us who cannot rely on the internet to download Stamp Manage, It would be very helpful if you would supply the Getting Started Guide in printed form as before. I'd be willing to pay more to receive it.

admin reacted to jim88 in Database and program updates?
I was curious about whether Coin Manage could make a picklist like you described. So I did a Tools / Search CoinManage Database and put in a date and right clicked on the results and added it to the want list.
Then I did a Reporting / Want List with Values / and directed it to print preview to see if it worked. It did.
The only thing is that it allocated a new CoinManage number to that coin on my want list. I have deleted the coin from the want list now but based on past experience it doesn't ever use those deleted numbers again. Is there any way to 'recycle' coinmanage numbers for deleted coins?

admin reacted to coinop in Database and program updates?
a few newbie questions
#1-I am curious where you get your canadian coin pricing from?
#2-Is the american data coming from PCGS exclusively?
#3- To whom do we report missing info?
#4-Is there a particular report that would be useful to produce a pick list from?
BY "picklist" here is what I mean.
Often I go to auctions, it would be nice to have a printed list of all coins at the auction, with the pricing data in a row.
Ideally this is how I currently manage this.
I request a list of inventory from the auction house.
I dump that into a spreadsheet
Then I research each coin and list every value from "G" to "SP" and everything in between, each one in its own column.
Then i go to auction and view the coins in advance, visually estimating grade and recording that or the listed grade they provide, once verified.
Huge time vampire and i believe your software should be able to relieve this, so here is my request.
Is there a way I can create a collection in CM, adding one of each coin in the auctions inventory to that collection.
His first part I know is possible, but the next I am not sure of.
Next part is, how do I then produce a report that would have all the pricing and possible variant data for each coin selected, to the right for checking off, circling etc by hand when at the auction.
You might be wondering why I would want a printed copy, it just isnt easy to lug a laptop around in crowds and be fast and easy for grading, clipboard with a pencil is always faster.
Please advise, love thesoftware and would be exciting to learn the possibilities in this regards.

admin reacted to wchettel in Columns don't stick
I don't know if this helps but, I noticed the same thing. Then, I discovered that there's a separate data display panel for each item in the Collections navigation panel on the left side of the window. I had to arrange the columns for each one and they stuck. In my case, it was only three panels I had to arrange - My Collection, United States, and General Issue. Now when I exit and then later restart StampManage, the columns are set to my preference.

admin reacted to erb-57 in Marking medal/coin orientation or alignment
I searched the forum, but was unable to find the topic ...
I collect coins that come in quite a number of subvarieties differing in properties such as size, weight, composition. Because most of thes properties are defined on the level of type (not on the level of variety), I help myself using the variety description and the Comments field. In consequence, both fields tend to get somewhat full and cluttered.
There is one coin property, however, that I sorely miss for description: coin orientation or coin alignment. Would it be possible to include a field to distinguish between coin alignment and medal alignment on the variety info tab (a radio button comes to mind)? That would help a lot, especially if it could be used as a column for sorting when displaying types.
Thanks for any response

admin reacted in RFE: Add "font change requires app restart" text
Request For Enhancement: Add "font change requires app restart" text
This is just a usability issue - when changing the font in the Tools->Preferences dialog, the app does NOT change the font right away - you have to restart the app to see it. If you don't know how some Windows apps work, then you might not know otherwise. So it WOULD help to have just a hint there next to the Font size, stating that "font change requires app restart" or something similar so the user doesn't get frustrated at wondering why the font didn't change (until he/she restarts the app next time).

admin reacted to Paul-W in excel export
Here's how I've done it, highlight "My Collection" on the left, then right click and choose "Output Report Using...". Then choose "Coins by Collection" report, then in the dialog box that come up about the print options choose and then in the drop-down list that you can direct to -- choose Microsoft Excel Format. Then you'll get an Excel file that you can tweak and format. In the reports menu you can also choose "Create a Collection Report" and then just direct the print options to Microsoft Excel Format. I do this frequently to have a workbook for my collection.

I am currently using a coin management program that I am not happy with. With some trouble I can manage to output the various fields and concatenate them into a .CVS file which I can then manipulate. Does your program allow the import of a CVS file?
